6 Wonderful Older Woman Blogs

I’ve been telling my friends about the idea of writing an older woman blogs, and it’s almost like clockwork: The younger ones laugh. And the others (the ones who *are* over 50) say what a great idea, I want to read it. Older woman blog? Here we go …

The truth is this is not a totally novel idea. There are a number of older woman blogs. It seems that among these, fashion is a top topic. I will list some of my favorites:

Found Blogs for Fifty-Plus:

50 and Fab

I love Michele! I think from reading her blog, we are just about the same age and her fashion sense is just so … on point! She inspires me. She also wrote this lovely post about being a SAHM. (Stay at home mom).

Flawsome and Fifty

Paula Drakes Cohen had to start over at over 50 … in Israel! I love her spunky story. This post on face cupping gave me something to think about. Could skin’s appearance be changed by … an unusual massage? Apparently!

Grown and Flown

What about all those Christmas cards? Grown and Flown wonders: “Will this be the last year?” For me, I certainly hope not. Although if I do send them, I’ll have to write a letter telling old friends the fact that I’m divorced. Again. LOLOLOLOL. I don’t relish this thought, but I also would like to try to send cards. I think the friends and fam all know about the divorce, anyway, because, Facebook.

CindySpivey.com

Now this lady is a fashionista! Much of the stuff that’s on her site comes from Amazon, and it’s pretty much 100% stuff I would wear. Her photography is top notch, too.

Midlife Chic

The name of this blog brought me back to my younger self, who took a while to put together the spelling “chic” and the pronunciation “sheik.” Anyway, Nikki knows her fashion, after nine years as a fashion magazine editor. Much to learn here.

That’s Not My Age

I wish I could clip her “about” photo. Where do these people get their photographs? Alyson Walsh is the blogger and podcaster here — the article on red lipstick at any age is a standout. Like I said, the photography.

What I Want to Talk About Is …

So what is to be the focus here at Susantaylorbrand.com? Well — I want to talk about *us*, our lives, our fashion, our beauty, exercise, health, travel, family, men — just all the good stuff. Not necessarily in that order.

I suppose I can add here that I want to try to do things differently now — I’m not longer struggling financially, or worrying about the safety of small children. To me it seems like a tremendously free and exciting vista, this later part of life. And honestly I don’t care quite as much what people think of me. If I did, I wouldn’t allow myself to speak about myself as “older.” I admit, it’s still a little tough to admit. But what has inspired me most is my friends. I feel like we need to talk about these things! We cannot allow the young women to have control of the conversation, they don’t know enough they will get everyone in trouble! Besides, we women of a certain age still want to have fun and that’s going to have to be included too.

So here’s to older woman blogs … and to us older women.
