7 Outfits to wear with knee high black boots

I’m not going to throw you any bum steers here — the knee high black boots are not easy to wear for everybody at every time. They’re tremendously showy and flashy, impressive and luxurious. But in almost any design, knee high black boots also are a top choice for dominatrixes and hookers. You can’t just casually throw them on. They almost scream, “I’m here, I’m sassy, I’m sexy.”

Will You Be Able to Carry This Off?

The big change since I was young is that you no longer have to have the hem of your skirt hit the top of the boot. This freedom comes at a cost. In my perusal of the models of the internet and their many, many knee high boot photos I noticed that a lot of leg is showing above the knee. Naturally these ladies have perfect legs, or at least skinny legs, or maybe in some cases they have no false modesty, but overall I still say, going for a long midi skirt and “doubling up” with the boots under is a great look. For a little flair, you can pick a midi with a side slit.

Knee High Boots with a Long Straight Skirt

This image is from The Wandering Girl … nice shot. It’s true, a couple of the boots in the blog portfolio i created here are brown, but the truth is, except for the fact that the black boots are a little more showy and ostentatious, a little more … more … the design principals are the same.

Then there’s the knee high boots with skinny jeans look. This rather depends on having the right top. You should have a top with a bit of boxiness or color brightness to bring the eye up from the long booted legs.

Knee High Boots that Take on the World

This look is from WhoWhatWear … what a great shot. This lady’s look and stride exemplify the attitude you can get with knee high boots. Can you wear knee high black boots with jeans? Yes. And you’re not the first to ask that. More on the topic of “Are skinny jeans with high boots unfashionable” is at Reddit

Big Boots and Big Bag

Skinny jeans again, and with this shot, you can see the boxy top and big bag giving bulk over long dark booted legs. I love the loose look above the instep of these boots, a swashbuckling detail. From Fabulous Ever After.

Poor Little Boot Girl?

This from Stylishly Me. Notice the casual accessories, giving a “waif” kind of feeling, the tam and the drapey sweater adding bulk and shape to the outfit to offset the two times tight skinny jeans and boots.

Goth Girl Going OG Gangster

You can go wrong. I mean, if your intention is to look smart and svelt and fresh and furious.

You would, of course, get noticed in this, no matter what, so maybe that’s the key, even if you didn’t shave the hair off your head (a fashion move that’s more “go big or go home” than most but also involves more commitment than most).

Finally, one of my personal faves is a long flare skirt with knee high black boots.

But I couldn’t find a single picture of someone wearing a long flare skirt and black knee high boots so the one below will have to do. From wwlovemk.click this image does show how the lines of the flare skirt cross the up and down lines of the boots for an attractive contrast. I wouldn’t personally wear the green highlights but it seems to be working for this model.

A Final Valediction on Wearing Knee High Black Boots …

Be careful out there. Perhaps the only thing worse than dressing like a dominatrix or a hooker is dressing up like an over-50 dominatrix or hooker. Fashion is always a balance between the conservative matching of designs, the assemblage of high quality merchandise, and the florid use of in-your-face skittish details. You’ve got that detail already when you put the boots on, generally. There’s nothing else to do except cool the whole mix down with savy, svelt and matchy pieces that show you’re still the It Girl, after all this time.

And we’ll leave the light on for you.
