What I’ve Been Reading

What I’ve been reading, generally stuff I’ve read this year, which was interesting enough to put down for future reference. And which is immediately available online:

what I've been reading

Blogs

Mr Money Mustache (it’s there, but can’t be linked directly) — Who can help but be impressed when someone tells you you can retire in nine years flat, just by spending wisely and saving the rest?

Ryan Robinson — Gives some pretty cool notes on finding blogging niches, *and* his site style is “deck,” as my kids would say. Also he models the plan of having an own name website to publish on several topics.

Rob Henderson’s Substack — Human nature, psychology, social class, luxury beliefs, and more. You have to subscribe to read it, but the basic subscription is free.

Some Journals that All “Educated” People must be aware of:

The New Yorker — No you can’t really be an educated person if you don’t read an article from here at least once a year. If you read it all, you need to call 1-800-Get-A-Life.

  1. Aristotle’s Rules for Living Well

Reference Sites:

Wikipedia — It’s way better than they said when it came out. It may not be easy to admit that what I’ve been reading is Wikipedia, but it’s true. Often the only place you can get information that’s a little bit arcane or off the beaten path.

What I’ve Been Writing:

What is a Normal Person — The question of what it means to be normal, and a defense of the idea of normality, which has been knocked around a bit lately.  This post turned out to be one of my most read.

Hi and welcome to the road less traveled! I’m definitely with Socrates when he says the unexamined life is not worth living, so my approach to lifestyle blogging is more reflection, more reading.
